Football Advantage Adjustment Systems
A method used to equalize the playing field between teams of differing perceived abilities. This system provides one side with a virtual lead (or deficit) before the match commences for wagering purposes. This impacts the odds offered on either team winning.
Types of Advantage Adjustments
- Level: No adjustment is made. The standard outcome of the match determines the result.
- Single Whole Number: One team is given a full goal advantage, e.g., -1, +1.
- Single Half Number: One team is given a fractional goal advantage, e.g., -0.5, +0.5. This eliminates the possibility of a push (tie).
- Split Advantage: A combination involving both whole and fractional numbers (e.g., -0.5, -1), often referred to as Asian Advantage. The stake is effectively split equally between the two indicated advantage values.
Interpretation of Outcomes
The final score is adjusted based on the applied value. The adjusted score determines the winning selection. Different outcomes are possible depending on the adjustment and the final score of the game, including outright wins, losses, and pushes (when a whole number advantage leads to a tie after adjustment).
Asian Advantage
This type offers more complex scenarios. A stake on Asian Advantage is divided equally between two lines. For instance, if a team is given a (-0.5, -1) advantage, half of the wager is on them with -0.5 and the other half with -1. The outcome of each portion determines the overall payout.
Example Scenarios
Single Whole Number
Team A is given +1. The final score is Team A 1 - 0 Team B. The adjusted score is Team A 2 - 0 Team B. Wager on Team A wins.
Single Half Number
Team A is given -0.5. The final score is Team A 2 - 1 Team B. The adjusted score is Team A 1.5 - 1 Team B. Wager on Team A wins.
Split Advantage
Team A is given (-0.5, -1). The final score is Team A 1 - 1 Team B. Half of the stake (-0.5) results in a loss. The other half (-1) results in a push (refunded). The overall result is half-loss, half-refund.
